Municipal Energy Planning

Dawson Creek began its municipal energy planning in 2005 with a baseline assessment of its energy consumption in municipal buildings, fleets and services. The report found that Dawson Creek's corporate services had emitted 2,346 tonnes of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in 2004.

In 2007 an energy audit was completed on the South Peace Community Multiplex which identified another 1,076 tonnes of GHGs, bringing the City's total to 3,422 tonnes.

In order to reduce these emissions, Dawson Creek has to becoming carbon neutral in its municipal operations by 2012.
