There's lots of information about what you can do to reduce your impact on the environment that will also reduce the impact on your wallet and health. Here you'll find links to a variety of sites with suggestions to lighten your impact on the environment.

The Earth Day Network has a dozen short video clips outlining things you can do to reduce your impact on the planet, from recycling to drinking shade-grown coffee.

The David Suzuki Foundation has the Nature Challenge , which lists the ten most effective ways to conserve nature and improve our quality of life. Each section contains a number of detailed tips and suggestions, as well as links to more information.

One of the key actions the city is taking is to reduce the amount of energy it uses. This breaks down into three main areas, electricity, natural gas, and fuel. The following links will help you analyze and reduce the amount of energy you use at home for electricity and natural gas.

Identifying how much energy you use will help you find ways to reduce consumption. BC Hydro's Analyze My House is an interactive tool that will generate a report of your energy consumption.

The Canadian Government maintains the Office of Energy Efficiency , where you will find lots of information about reducing energy.

BC Hydro's PowerSmart program has information on reducing power consumption, including an energy calculator.

Dawson Creek is a pilot community in the provincial Energy Savings Plan . Grants of up to $2500 are available for homeowners through this program.

By reducing your vehicle emissions, you not only reduce the amount of greenhouse gases you produce, you also save money.

The Office of Energy Efficiency has a section dedicated to you and your vehicle . This includes information on choosing a fuel-efficient vehicle and how to drive efficiently.
